Hola Family and Friends,
This week was a great one! I loved it so much! First off...Happy 5 months!! Yay!!
Tuesday we got to take our investigators to the temple and Rene and Julio came! Rene loved it and he was asking questions and so involved and loving every minute! It made me so happy!
Julio is the boyfriend of one of our less actives Yosselin. When I first came in April, he wanted nothing to do with us. He is 50 and she is 18. Over time he has joined in our lessons and a few weeks ago got really sick. He was in the hospital for weeks and almost died. Our ZLs went and gave a blessing and when he got home, we went to see how he was doing. We left the Restoration video for him to watch because he hurts to move, so he just watches TV all day. Well...he watched it and cried! We have been teaching him and this week he told us he wants to get married and baptized! We have a date with him for he 30th of this month! It has really been so incredible to see his heart hardened and see over time as he has come to accept that this is the true church and the only way home. He has come to church for the last 2 weeks and he is reading and his testimony is really growing! What a blessing in my life to see the Atonement of Jesus Christ change his life! Please keep him in your prayers that he can keep the WOW ( he used to smoke, but he has stopped since the hospital) and that he can continue to progress to the 30th and for the rest of his life after that!
We had an incredible lesson with Rene on Saturday. We said we are talking about your doubts and he said Tithing and Fasting. They have been his doubts all along and we attacked them in this lesson! He gives money to a young boy who doesn't have anything and so he felt like he did not need to pay tithing. I shared with him about last summer when I used every penny I had to pay my tithing and the next day I was offered a temporary job that was perfect for my time. I shared Ether 12:6 and bore my testimony that we need to act on faith and after we will receive our blessings. He prayed and said in his prayer that he is going to try it out and test his faith. It was incredible as I was prompted to share this experience with him and how it touched his heart. It was something that strengthened my testimony and I was able to use it to strengthen his! I heard that He shared his testimony in priesthood yesterday and he said he is going to be baptized soon and he knows this church is true. He also told me that this church has healed him. That is the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, it heals and I was blessed to see it as it has healed Rene and blessed his life!
Saul was not home yesterday when we went to get him for church. We were really sad and we were sitting in sacrament and he walked in!! He came all by himself! We had a lesson last night and he was very into it! The spirit was there and he was able to feel it! He said "Ï like this church more and more everyday!" He is preparing to be baptized on the 17th! He is going to Guatemala tomorrow, so he might not be ready, but hopefully the 23rd :) In his prayer he prayed that he was so grateful he went to church "solito"(solo) and nobody had to take him! I do not know what it is with the old men and me here...they always find me and I just get the joy of sharing my knowledge with them!!
This week Marclea and Emily left for Texas. It was so sad to see them go, but I had peace that I will see them again! They are darling and have a lot to offer their family and new people in Texas!
I SPOKE IN CHURCH YESTERDAY...IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE! I still spoke fast...My nerves got me! The peeps in the ward said they understood and my Spanish is really good! My ward is just good to me ;) I spoke on member missionaries! I did not write it in English first...but I will send a copy of the Spanish and dad or Jill can translate it for you guys!!
Last night at 11 my comp and I were settling down and I was just about to sleep when she came in the room and said that our floor was flooding! I went out and the water was crazy shooting up to the ceiling! I decided we might as well take pictures! We laughed so hard and it was actually a lot of fun! Our neighbor helped us and we shut our water off from outside. We band aided it today and someone is coming to fix it tomorrow! It was really a fun adventure! (that is not sarcasm!!)
This week I am working on Humility! I love this part from PMG "Humility is the willingness to submit to the will of the Lord and to give the Lord the honor for what is accomplished. It includes gratitude for his blessings and acknowledgement of your constant need for his divine help." We always need his divine help and I am slowly learning that I cannot succeed by myself in the mission! With the Lord, we can do all things!
I love you guys and I want you to know that I am happy! I love this place, these people and this work! I count my blessings for each of you and for the support you give me along with this experience I have to be here!! Have a great week!!
Bringing em heaven as I glory in his name!
Love,
