This week was an interesting one! The area is very hard and I am really being tested here! Part of being a missionary is working to strengthen your area (obviously!) but my goal is to leave this area better than I found it! We tract everyday almost all day! Usually we introduce ourselves and then say we have a message about Jesus Christ to share. Rejection everytime! I changed it up this week and started introducing myself as a representative of Jesus Christ that is here to help people know him and strengthen their testimony of him more. I share my testimony of the love that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father have for them and ask if we can enter their house and sing a Hymn then say a prayer with them. 9 times out of 10 we get let it! It has been incredible to see the difference! We found 13 news last week and each of them have a return visit this week! I hope that they will all progress and find the joy that comes in the gospel! I will keep you all updated!!
Life in this area is hard in the bathroom department. We are walking up hills all day so I am constanly drinking. Which means I am constanly using the bathroom! The bathrooms in the members houses are a struggle here! I cannot use them! I have to find businesses to use bathrooms! My mom and I rated a bathroom in Mexico (if you want to plug a little in about the bathroom mom...feel free:)) and every single bathroom here in the homes are worse than that! It is so sad! I am so blessed to come from the bathrooms I have!
We were in a lesson in the jungle-no joke!- and there was a spider the size of my palm and the web it was on was bigger than my head! I was about to puke!!! This family did not have a bathroom for until about a year ago when the church made them a bathroom!
Life with the comp is up and down! I took her to Ice Cream on Monday and she was so happy and loved me! She did not talk to me on Tuesday until 5 pm! I would talk to her and she would ignore me! I could never ignore someone like she does. On Wednesday, I asked her what her problem was and she said she does not like when I ask her what she is doing. She does a lot of crafts, so I thought I was being "interested" in what she was doing, but nope! She will sometimes talk to me in the streets, then not say a word to me in the house and I asked her why...Her response was: "I do not want to be with you, I am forced to be with you all day so in the night I want my space!" I am not sure what I am meant to learn, but I hope I can learn it before the next transfer :)
This month I am working on patience! I feel like it is an area I can improve more now than ever. I love what PMG (pg. 120) says about patience: "Patience is the capacity to endure delay, trouble, opposition, or suffering, without becoming angry, frustrated or anxious. It is the ability to do God's will and accept his timing." I am definitly seeing that the mission is all about the Lord's timing! I can just roll with it with a smile or I can roll with it and a bad attitude! I am trying to choose a good attitude, but everyone knows that can be hard at times! I am working on it, slowly but surely :)
I love you all dearly! I am so sorry if I have not responded to your emails, I am working on it and trying to make them meaningful! I am so blessed to have each of you and I am so blessed to have your support!!!
Bringing 'em heaven as I glory in his name!
Love you all!
