Where to even begin this week?!?! I LOVE BELIZE!
I am in the Cayo Zone serving in Santa Elena with Sister Olalere as my companion. I love this girl! We are serving in the least developed branch in Belize with Elder Cleverly and Elder Hiatt. We are working hard as a branch to help strengthen the branch and to help it grow as well! My comp is from Corona, CA. and we have a blast talking about how the world is so small and the things we love in Cali! How amazing she is from where we used to live!!!
We are teaching a less active family, the Montalvan family (Taryn, Ashley, Amalia and David-who have never been baptized) and they were taught for a week and a half before I came. This family has captured my heart! The 4 kids will be getting baptized on the 15th of this month!
We are working with Aaron Mejia who is also a son of a L.A. that will be getting baptized on the 22nd! We are so excited and working hard with the members to help the wonderful people here in Santa Elena!
I taught R.S. for the first time on Sunday! I found out after Sacrament meeting that the teacher did not show up. I taught on the talk by David A. Bednar in the April conference about the load and the Atonement. The sisters are darling and they all helped me out! I am speaking in Church on Sunday! Please send your prayers! haha!
Belize is BEAUTIFUL!!! It is so green and there are palm trees everywhere! The people are so great and they are so happy, just really happy people! My area has a lot of hills, so we are constantly headed up...but the view is always worth it!
We have an active family named the Moody family and they are awesome! They are preparing to go to the temple in December to be sealed, so we have been able to work with them in their process! We had a great FHE with them last night and prepared them for their interviews and everything that follows!!
To buy food, they only have Chinas. They are tiny stores with very little options of food to choose! I remember getting to El Salvador it took time to figure out what to eat and what I can cook, so I am hoping that the time will help me to be a little creative! :) I think I am secretly hoping that a Costco or Kohlers will pop up soon! ha! Big dreams!
Today we woke up at 4:30 and we went on a Sunrise hike! There were clouds so we did not see the sunrise, but we were able to have a little exercise! We went back to the chapel and made French Toast after! We are going to the Montalvan's to make homemade flour tortillas and to have dinner with them! It will be way fun!
I love the people here, I love this country, I love the Lord's work here! We had a multi-zone yesterday with President Hintze and we have 64 missionaries in Belize right now! 20 sisters and the rest are Elders! One thing that President said that I love is that we need to turn our stumbling blocks into stepping stones. That is when we will grow and that is when we will be more successful in following the Lord!
It is such a privilege to be here serving and pushing the work forward! It makes me so happy to be able to share what I know with these sweet people! My time is short, but I am making the best of it and enjoying every second of it!! Thank you for all your love and support each week. It means so much to me and I am so full of gratitude each day for the prayers and love I feel! You guys are the best!!
Bringing 'em heaven as I glory in his name!!
Much love,
Sista Savage
