Hello, Hello!
So..remember Robert White that came to church on a whim last week? He is getting baptized on March 15!! He is so excited and he says "I just feel so good in this church!" It is a great example of why they tell missionaries to "talk to everybody!" He is doing great and understanding the gospel! It is so fun to teach him because he really has a desire to change!!
Lionel is doing well. He works on the weekends, so we have not seen him for a few days. We just downloaded the B.O.M. on his computer and he is listening to it everyday.
This week we got to serve a family and help them build a home. It was far from finished, but we mixed cement, poured it and stacked bricks. It was a great time to help this family.
Sister Lindstrom and I ate Conch shell soup with rice this week. Conch really had no flavor, just a weird texture. It was like a rubber that was not ripping in pieces!
I went on inter-changes with Sister M Saturday. We were working in her area and it was a great time to see how different companionships run their area. I learned a lot from her and we had a great time together.
Sunday in church, the counselor in the presidency decided that Sister M and I were going to do a musical number. Okay #1. I have a cold and can barley talk and #2 I CANNOT SING! Never have been able to and never will be able to! We walk up there looking at each other with eyes saying "how on earth did this happen?" We start to sing and we started laughing. It was the most embarrassing thing I have ever done.
We knew how bad it was to laugh, but of all 8 yes...8 missionaries in our branch, he chose the two that cannot sing! We pulled ourselves together and we finally calmed down. We sang, but nobody could hear us! Some of the people in the audience joined in and helped us. That was a moment that I wish I could just wipe away. It might be one we laugh at years down the road.
I have been eating up the Book of Mormon and this morning I read about Korihor (Alma 30). I was reading about how we have so many modern day Korihors. In April 1997 President Eyring talked about how we need to rise above those modern day Korihors and listen to our loving prophet. I love what he said in regards to this:
"Korihor was arguing, as men and women have falsely argued from the beginning of time, that to take counsel from the servants of God is to surrender God-given rights of independence. But the argument is false because it misrepresents reality.
When we reject the counsel which comes from God, we do not choose to be independent of outside influence. We choose another influence. We reject the protection of a perfectly loving, all-powerful, all-knowing Father in Heaven, whose whole purpose, as that of His Beloved Son, is to give us eternal life, to give us all that He has, and to bring us home again in families to the arms of His love. In rejecting His counsel, we choose the influence of another power, whose purpose is to make us miserable and whose motive is hatred. We have moral agency as a gift of God. Rather than the right to choose to be free of influence, it is the inalienable right to submit ourselves to whichever of those powers we choose
.Another fallacy is to believe that the choice to accept or not accept the counsel of prophets is no more than deciding whether to accept good advice and gain its benefits or to stay where we are. But the choice not to take prophetic counsel changes the very ground upon which we stand. It becomes more dangerous. The failure to take prophetic counsel lessens our power to take inspired counsel in the future. The best time to have decided to help Noah build the ark was the first time he asked. Each time he asked after that, each failure to respond would have lessened sensitivity to the Spirit. And so each time his request would have seemed more foolish, until the rain came. And then it was too late."
Don't let it be too late to listen to the prophet. He is called of God to guide us back to our Father in Heaven's presence. I know that if we listen in General Conference and if we read his councils each month, we will be able to see the ways we need to live to accomplish our eternal goals!
I love you all so much! I hope you guys have a great week and I hope that you feel my prayers! Thank you for your love, support and emails!
Bringing 'em heaven as I glory in his name!
xoxo
